Google has announced a major expansion of its parental control tools, making them available across a wider range of Android devices with the rollout of Android 17, rather than limiting key features to Pixel smartphones.

The update integrates parental controls and the Family Link platform directly into Android’s settings menu, allowing parents to manage supervision tools more easily. These controls include daily screen-time limits, scheduled device downtime, age-based app restrictions, and the ability to block specific applications.

Additional Family Link features enable parents to manage study time, approve app purchases, receive location alerts, and monitor their children's digital activities. All settings are protected by a PIN to prevent unauthorized changes.

As part of its broader digital well-being efforts, Google also announced that funding for its Digital Wellbeing Fund in the United States has surpassed $50 million, supporting initiatives aimed at promoting healthier technology use and reducing social isolation among children and teenagers.

The expansion coincides with the rollout of Android 17, which introduces improvements in privacy, security, multitasking, and gaming performance while serving as the foundation for the enhanced parental control experience.
