Instagram is rolling out a new feature that lets users add unique captions to each image or video in carousel posts, enhancing storytelling, content organization, and accessibility.
Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to add individual captions to each photo or video within carousel posts, giving creators more flexibility to tell stories and organize information.
Instead of relying on a single caption for an entire carousel, users can now assign separate descriptions to each slide, with the relevant text appearing as viewers navigate through the post.
When creating a carousel, users can choose between a unified caption for the entire post or unique captions for each image or video. The feature supports up to 20 slides, matching Instagram’s current carousel limit.
The company said the update will benefit content creators and brands by enabling step-by-step guides, product showcases, and more engaging storytelling formats. It also improves accessibility by providing clearer context for users who rely on screen readers and assistive technologies.
Instagram has begun rolling out the feature globally and noted that it may take several days to reach all accounts due to the platform’s massive user base.
