OpenAI is preparing what could be the most significant redesign in ChatGPT’s history, aiming to transform the platform into a “super app” that combines advanced coding tools with AI agents capable of handling a wide range of tasks.

The move is part of a broader corporate strategy to boost revenue and strengthen the company’s position ahead of any potential initial public offering, while also sharpening its focus on enterprise customers amid intensifying competition from rivals such as Anthropic.

According to recent reports, OpenAI is revamping ChatGPT’s interface to guide users more directly toward specialized services, including the Codex coding assistant, image-generation tools, and integrations with third-party platforms such as Canva and Booking.com.

The new experience is expected to roll out first on web and mobile applications in the coming weeks, with Codex set to play a more prominent role within the ecosystem.

Enterprise customers are becoming increasingly important to OpenAI’s business. Reports indicate that around two million companies currently account for roughly 40% of the firm’s revenue, a figure expected to rise to 50% by the end of the year.

The shift highlights OpenAI’s growing emphasis on the corporate market, which offers stronger long-term revenue opportunities than consumer subscriptions alone.

ChatGPT now serves more than 900 million weekly active users, while paid subscriptions have surpassed 50 million, underscoring OpenAI’s rapid growth and its status as one of the world’s leading generative AI companies.

Potential IPO Remains on the Horizon

The reported overhaul comes amid renewed speculation about a future stock market debut. Previous reports suggested that OpenAI has considered a confidential filing for a U.S. initial public offering, although Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman has said an IPO is not an immediate priority and would be pursued only when conditions are right.

The company’s plans also unfold against the backdrop of an escalating global race to develop more capable and integrated AI systems that can perform increasingly complex tasks.
