Xiaomi is preparing to launch the global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro, just days after officially unveiling the device alongside the Redmi Note 17 in China. New leaks now suggest that the international model will differ noticeably from its Chinese counterpart, particularly in memory configurations and battery capacity.

According to information uncovered in import and export databases, the global Redmi Note 17 Pro will be offered in at least two memory variants: 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage.

These configurations are significantly lower than those available in China, where the handset is sold with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB.

Different Model Numbers for Global and Chinese Versions

The leaked information also highlights different model numbers for the two variants. The global version reportedly carries the model number 2607DRA18G, while the Chinese model is identified as 2607DRA18C.

The final letter indicates the target market, with "C" representing the Chinese market and "G" denoting the global version.

Expected Poco-Branded Version

The leaks further suggest that Xiaomi plans to release the same device under its Poco brand in selected international markets.

A handset bearing the model number 2607DPC18G has surfaced in the same database. The model number closely matches the Redmi version, with only the branding identifier changing from RA (Redmi) to PC (Poco).

While the official Poco branding has yet to be confirmed, the move aligns with Xiaomi's long-standing strategy of rebranding selected Redmi smartphones as Poco devices for global markets, often with minor hardware adjustments.

Global Model Expected to Feature a Smaller Battery

Battery capacity is another area where the global version appears set to differ.

According to a well-known tipster on X, the international Redmi Note 17 Pro will include a battery with a rated capacity of 8,340mAh, which is expected to be marketed as an 8,500mAh typical capacity.

Although this remains one of the largest batteries in its segment, it is still smaller than the 9,000mAh battery offered in the Chinese model.

The leak also indicates that the Indian version could retain the larger 9,000mAh battery, making it the only international market expected to receive the higher-capacity variant.

Xiaomi Continues Market-Specific Hardware Strategy

The reported differences reinforce Xiaomi's strategy of tailoring smartphone specifications to individual markets. The company has frequently adjusted memory options, battery capacities, and pricing to meet regional regulations, consumer demand, and competitive positioning.

Xiaomi has not yet announced an official launch date for the global Redmi Note 17 Pro, but industry observers expect the device to debut in international markets in the coming weeks.
