Turning off your smartphone doesn't completely stop battery drain. Here's why lithium-ion batteries continue to lose charge even when the device is powered down.
Many smartphone users assume that powering off their device completely eliminates battery consumption. In reality, however, a phone's battery continues to lose a small amount of charge even when the device is switched off—although at a much slower rate than when it is in normal use.
The gradual decline is primarily caused by the battery's natural chemistry and a handful of low-power electronic components that remain active even after shutdown.
Why Does Battery Charge Drop When the Phone Is Off?

Not necessarily.
A phone that has remained powered off for several months will usually function normally once recharged. However, lithium-ion batteries naturally lose some capacity over time, meaning they may not deliver the same battery life they did when new.
