Microsoft has rolled out its June 2026 update for Windows 11, introducing one of the platform’s most significant upgrades in recent months. The release focuses on improving responsiveness, streamlining user experience, and strengthening system security.
Faster Response Across the System
A new low-latency mode has been introduced to accelerate access to the Start menu, Action Center, and Windows Search, while also boosting application launch performance. The feature temporarily pushes the processor to its maximum clock speed for a few seconds after user input, providing an immediate performance boost and reducing interface lag.
Start Menu and Search Enhancements
Microsoft has further optimized the Start menu, making it more responsive than previous versions. Windows Search has also been upgraded to deliver results more quickly with fewer typed characters, helping users locate files and applications faster.
The Windows Store has received performance improvements as well, reducing download and installation times for apps and updates—an issue frequently reported by users in recent months.
New Features for Modern PCs
The update allows the camera to be accessed by multiple applications simultaneously, enabling users to join video calls while capturing photos at the same time. It also introduces audio sharing across multiple Bluetooth Low Energy-compatible devices.
Additional enhancements include the ability to customize the user folder name during initial Windows setup and new Task Manager tools for monitoring Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance on AI-powered PCs.
Major Security Improvements
On the security front, Microsoft addressed 206 vulnerabilities, including flaws related to privilege escalation, remote code execution, information disclosure, and spoofing.
Among the most critical fixes is CVE-2026-45657, a vulnerability rated 9.8 out of 10 in severity, which could have enabled remote code execution at the Windows kernel level.
The update underscores Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Windows security as artificial intelligence increasingly plays a role in vulnerability discovery and penetration testing.
