BYD Retains Lead in Egypt’s EV Market as Registrations Reach 2,123 in May
Egypt’s electric vehicle market remained active in May, with more than 2,100 EVs licensed and insured, while BYD extended its lead for a third consecutive month.
Egypt’s electric vehicle market maintained strong momentum in May, according to data from the country’s compulsory motor insurance pool, with a total of 2,123 electric vehicles licensed and insured during the month, including around 1,600 privately owned passenger cars.
Chinese automaker BYD remained the market leader for the third consecutive month, recording 465 newly licensed vehicles.
DFSK ranked second with 202 vehicles, followed by MCV with 100 units. XPeng secured fourth place with 96 vehicles.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen came fifth with 91 registrations, ahead of Geely at 87, Arcfox at 84, and Deepal at 78.
Rounding out the top brands, Nissan recorded 76 vehicles, while Zeekr registered 69 units during the month.
