Suzuki has officially reintroduced the Alto hatchback to the Egyptian market after a three-year absence, making it the country's most affordable new gasoline-powered car.
Egypt's entry-level car market has been reshuffled after Modern Motors, the exclusive local distributor for Suzuki, officially launched the 2027 Suzuki Alto hatchback in the Egyptian market during July, ending a nearly three-year absence.
Priced at EGP 535,000, the new Alto becomes the cheapest new passenger car powered by an internal combustion engine currently available in Egypt, replacing several long-standing budget models at the top of the affordability rankings.
Suzuki Alto Takes the Top Spot
The 2027 Suzuki Alto is offered in a single trim level with an official price of EGP 535,000.
Its return significantly changes the hierarchy of Egypt's most affordable new vehicles, strengthening Suzuki's presence in the budget hatchback segment.
Proton Saga Drops to Second Place
The locally assembled 2027 Proton Saga now ranks as the second-cheapest new car in Egypt after leading the segment for more than a year.
The sedan is available in a single trim priced at EGP 675,000.
It is powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine producing 95 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.
Chery Arrizo 5 Remains a Strong Budget Contender
The locally assembled 2027 Chery Arrizo 5 continues to compete in the affordable sedan category.
Pricing starts at EGP 730,000 for the entry-level variant and reaches EGP 815,000 for the top-spec model.
The sedan features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 114 horsepower, available with either a manual transmission or a CVT automatic, depending on the trim.
Hyundai Accent RB
The Hyundai Accent RB remains one of Egypt's most popular budget sedans.
Official prices begin at EGP 730,000 for the GL trim and rise to EGP 839,000 for the Highline version.
Power comes from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 125 horsepower and 156 Nm of torque.
Renault Taliant
The 2026 Renault Taliant is one of the leading European options in the affordable sedan segment.
Prices start at EGP 755,000 for the Evolution trim and increase to EGP 815,000 for the Techno variant.
The car is equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 100 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT automatic transmission designed to enhance fuel efficiency.
Nissan Sunny Falls Out of the Top Five
The return of the Suzuki Alto has pushed the 2027 Nissan Sunny out of Egypt's five least expensive new cars.
The Sunny now starts at EGP 765,000 for the AT Base trim, with prices reaching EGP 830,000 for the highest specification.
Despite losing its position among the cheapest models, the Nissan Sunny continues to dominate Egypt's passenger car market.
According to the latest data from the Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool, 1,748 Nissan Sunny vehicles were licensed during June, making it the country's best-selling and most registered passenger car for the month.
