Egypt to Host the 9th Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology in Aswan This October
Aswan will host the ninth edition of the Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology (AAFFIAT) from October 25–29, bringing together young innovators from across Africa and Asia.
Egypt is set to host the 9th Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology (AAFFIAT) in Aswan from October 25 to 29, under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).
Preparations for the international event were reviewed during a meeting between Amr Lashin, Governor of Aswan, Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), and Dr. Marwa Emara, Executive Director of AAFFIAT.
Empowering Young Innovators
Governor Lashin described the forum as one of the leading international initiatives dedicated to discovering and supporting young innovators while developing digital and technological skills that align with the future of work.
He welcomed Aswan's selection as the host city, saying it reflects growing confidence in the governorate following years of comprehensive development supported by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
According to Lashin, Aswan has evolved into a hub for sustainable development and an attractive destination for international conferences thanks to its rich cultural heritage, tourism assets, modern infrastructure, and expanding hospitality sector.
Full Government Support
The governor pledged full logistical and organizational support to ensure the event showcases Egypt's leadership in innovation and highlights Aswan as a center for African youth, culture, and economic development.
He also stressed the importance of maximizing participation by local students and young people through competitions, workshops, and networking opportunities with international experts in:
Artificial intelligence
Robotics
Innovation
Entrepreneurship
Emerging technologies
In addition, he directed local authorities to organize a comprehensive cultural, artistic, sports, and entertainment program alongside the forum to give international participants a broader experience of Aswan's heritage.

Dr. Ahmed Khattab and Dr. Marwa Emara said AAFFIAT has become a leading international platform connecting young innovators from Africa and Asia while promoting collaboration among educational institutions, entrepreneurs, researchers, and technology leaders.
They noted that the forum supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by preparing future generations to lead technological transformation.

The ninth edition of AAFFIAT will feature 24 international competitions for participants aged 5 to 25, covering a broad range of disciplines, including:

The event will also include scientific festivals, specialized workshops, and keynote sessions led by international researchers and industry experts.

Organizers said hosting the international finals in Aswan builds on Egypt's successful organization of the previous edition and reflects growing international confidence in the country's event management capabilities.
They added that the forum will further establish Aswan as a global destination for innovation and technology while creating opportunities for young people from Africa and Asia to collaborate on building a more innovative and sustainable future.
The 2026 edition represents another milestone in Egypt's efforts to promote digital transformation, invest in youth development, and support the country's long-term goals under Egypt Vision 2030 and Aswan Vision 2040.
