Fawry Secures $10.8 Million Financing Facility to Expand SME Lending Across Egypt
The new financing facility will strengthen Fawry's digital lending capabilities, enabling faster and broader access to funding for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across Egypt.
Egyptian digital financial services provider Fawry has secured a $10.8 million financing facility for its wholly owned subsidiary, Fawry MSME Finance, from the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) to expand financing for businesses across Egypt.
Funding to Support Businesses Nationwide
The financing package includes $5.9 million dedicated to microenterprises and $4.9 million allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The funding will be deployed through Fawry's digital lending platform, which leverages data-driven credit assessments to deliver faster access to working capital and business expansion financing.
The initiative is expected to improve financing accessibility for businesses seeking flexible digital lending solutions while accelerating loan approvals through advanced technology.
Expanding Digital Financial Services
Founded in 2008, Fawry has grown into one of Egypt's leading digital financial services providers, serving both banked and unbanked customers. In recent years, the company has expanded beyond digital payments to strengthen its financing solutions for Egypt's growing SME ecosystem.
The latest financing facility reinforces Fawry's strategy to provide technology-driven financial products that support entrepreneurs and business owners across multiple sectors.
Supporting Financial Inclusion and Vision 2030
The agreement aligns with Egypt's national efforts to enhance financial inclusion, encourage informal businesses to formalize their operations, and stimulate entrepreneurship under Egypt Vision 2030.
It also highlights the increasing role of fintech companies in expanding access to credit for underserved businesses while supporting MSMEDA's mission to widen financing opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises throughout the country.
